Hon. Mugis Assembly man for Dass Eletoral Area Donates to 2 Schools in West Gonja Municipality.
Hon. Mugis Mbigamsi, the Assembly man for Dass electoral area in the West Gonja municipal assembly of the Savannah region has donated multiple school uniforms to two (2) basic primary schools in the municipality.
360 school uniforms were donated to Jakpa D/A Primary and Jafo Primary School, comprising 220 female uniforms, and 140 male uniforms.
At a brief ceremony to hand over the uniforms, the Hon. Mugis told Radio Peace and Development (PADFM) that the donation was made to help the pupils gain access to education. He said it is necessary to complement the government's efforts to improving the educational system of the country.
Hon. Mugis added that the donation will go a long way to help improve teaching and learning because school pupils are motivated to attend school and also easing the educational load on parents.
"Education is the key to success, when I first took office, my first goal was to help the young, especially the needy and talented school children. I have a big dream for the young smart children and will relate with people in authority to help them achieve this big dream.
Hon Mugis noted that this is not his first time supporting schools and he recalled the donations he made for Boroto and Falahayet schools, promising to do more to other schools in the area.
Mr. Aremu Babatunde Philip, the president of the United Yagbon Youth, asked for God's mercy for Hon. Mugis for him to continue blessings making impact on peoples lives and assistance to school children in the municipality.
"He is a visionary Assembly man who believes that everything he obtains, should be shared with the young ones, and his top concern since he assumed office has always been what he can do to stimulate the youth", he emphasized
He also pleaded with parents to assist and take proper care of the children and uniforms by advising the children and motivating them to learn hard. He also pleaded with opinion leaders, NGOs, and other stakeholders to come to their aid, particularly the people of Dass electoral area and Damongo as a whole.
Some of the pupils don't have school uniforms and this restricts learning, identification of pupils because when there's an accident, identification becomes a difficult, Siibu Abudu Mariam, the headmistress for Jakpa D/A primary said.
She asked for more support from the Assembly man and other stakeholders in and around the municipality to help them solve problems that are affecting academic activities in the school. Such problems include inadequate and proper classrooms, insufficient furniture, sportswear and feeding.
Mr. Fuseini Aminu, the headmaster of Jafo elementary school, also conveyed his deep gratitude to the assembly member for the Dass electoral area for donating school uniforms for both boys and girls.
We have gotten uniforms for our KG from the Assembly man for the area and said the support came at the opportune time as majority of our children do not have uniforms, he said
He believes that the uniforms will benefit their students by motivating them to learn.
He outlined some challenges facing the school such as insufficient or damaged furniture, classroom renovations, community members converting their school into a refuse damp. This has a negative impact on their children' health.
Mr. Aminu noted that resolving these issues will improve the lives of their kids and as a result, he is seeking support from chiefs, stakeholders, opinion leaders, and legislators to help lessen the health risks that these students and instructors face during school hours.
