 Savannah Regional Peace Council Builds Capacity of Media and information officers on Conflict Sensitivity Reporting The Savannah Regional Peace Council on 22nd July, 2022, held a conflict sensitivity and reporting capacity building for the media and information officers in the Savannah region at the Catholic Guest House Conference Hall, Damongo. The training seeks to enlighten media practitioners and information officers on the emerging violent conflicts, conflict analysis and sensitivity in their everyday reportage. Mr. Clifford Tampuri, the regional director of peace council said the increased emergence of violent conflict in our communities calls for this engagement and appealed to media persons to be mindful in their reportage in other not to create fear and panic anytime there conflict between two parties.  Staff of Savannah Queen mother's Association Reported to Police  over breach of Agreement by a Restaurant Manager A staff of the Savannah Queen Mothers Association identified as Frank has been reported to the police by Mr Issah, the Managing Director of Place View Cateen for alleged breach of agreement between the two. This comes on the back of claims that, the Queen mother's staff had neglected or failed to pay for food he had ordered Palace View Canteen to provide for a workshop scheduled to take place at Damongo. According to the manager of Place View, Frank didn't show up for the food which cost them hundreds of Ghana cedis to prepare and  fully packaged awaiting delivery on negligence of Frank for not asking them stop when he knew the workshop was postponed. The agreement between the two was for Palace View Canteen to prepare and serve food for participants of a workshop that was scheduled for Thursday, 21st July, 2022.  Hope In Love Widows Foundation Holds Engagement With Widows In Damongo Hope In Love Widows Foundation LBG has held  yet another engagement with widows in the West Gonja municipality of the Savannah region on Wednesday, 13th July, 2022, Damongo. The engagement was used to organize and elect group leaders to the various zonal widows groups in the municipality. Each zonal group after electing their leaders is, expected to hold meetings at their zones to help reduce the difficulties the widows go through when attending meetings at a central point and to make contact or meetings easy with them. Over eight (8) widow groups have been formed in the West Gonja municipality. During the engagement, the leader of the foundation, Aboya Ramatu, revealed that the foundation's major aim is to help uplift the socioeconomic conditions of widows in the area.  Damongo: Kaliya Wins World Environment Day Essay Competition  A seven-year-old pupil of the Sir Martin’s Memorial School in Damongo in the Savannah region of Ghana, Kaliya Jasmine Bahia was emerged the overall winner of the World Environment Day (WED), essay competition organized by A Rocha Ghana in partnership with Open Foundation West Africa and GH Environment, for children between 6-9years (category one). With over 80 entries from all three categories, with thought-provoking submission, Kaliya came up as the winner in this category targeted at children within the ages of six and nine.  The contest was launched with the theme; Only one Earth, how will you protect it? on the June 5, 2022, as part of the World Environment Day celebration. Madam Kaliya who emerged the winner, was grateful to the organizers and pledged to deliver her best to advocate for protection of the environment and the earth as a whole.
